Three incredible standout Americana tracks – Ear To The Ground Music

JD Casper – "Sink Like A Stone"
-The first time I heard this track by JD Casper, I had to think of classics like John Hartford or the late great Tom T. Hall. The narrative atmosphere here is expressive and fascinating. The production of the track combines all the great elements of classic Americana music from the clanking banjo to the vibrating harmonica. The combination feels as pure as the Mississippi Current. The lyrical imagery is personal and yet understandable for outsiders. It's just a well-written song from start to finish and we're excited to be supporting it here.

Kiely Connell – "Calumet Queen"
-Each time in a blue moon I hear a voice that makes me stop right in my lane and ask: "Who is THAT?" Kiely Connell has that powerful Americana voice. The expressive style sounds like it was forged in the fires of America's own mills or quarried from America's own hills. Connell's voice is complemented by an excellent rock-influenced Americana sound that goes perfectly with the sound we've been curating for a while. Connell sounds like she has something to say and you should fucking listen to her. Mud flows through their veins. That's a metaphor … but it doesn't feel far from the truth. I've had the privilege of knowing people like that and they're not to be trifled with. I love everything about this song, from the production to the message.

Timothy Edward Carpenter ft. Abby Holliday – "TV"
-This is a very philosophical piece of art with a beautiful composition to support it. The lead voice is sometimes whispered in the manner of William Fitzsimmons (whom we happen to love). The energy of the track is outstanding. The constant question of "What do you think this means?" Is really very reassuring. The layered atmospheric style here doesn't feel like much Americana is being created today, but we definitely find it's a much-needed fold in the genre. There is a sincere sincerity to storytelling that reminds me of some of the greats of the genre. It's a brilliant composition and well worth listening to and liking.
