Shh – she's no ordinary librarian.
Equal parts artist and entrepreneur, The Librarian is best known for her innovative DJ sets as well as her cultural influence as co-founder and music programmer of the popular boutique music festival Bass Coast.
After a quiet 2021, The Librarian has refocused and is preparing for a memorable year. Now she's announced her latest project, a six-track EP called miss u. And ahead of its spring release, she's given fans the double-sided lead single "Howe Sound" and the EP's track "miss u."
"Howe Sound" draws listeners into its hypnotic, synth-packed arrangement from the start. Before long, an eerie bass line overwhelms with an intriguing groove. "Howe Sound is my home," the librarian said in a press release. "I work and play on the traditional, ancestral and unceded indigenous lands of the Sḵwx̱wú7mesh Úxwumixw (Squamish) people," she continued. "Winters are dark and cool, but when you embrace the wet environment, it's powerful and moving."
Listening to "miss u" it's not hard to see the driving force behind the music. With a kinetic breakbeat in the foreground and an eerie ambience in the background, this listening experience puts listeners in a state of longing for the late nights on the dance floor that – soon – will become mornings. About halfway through, experimental instrumentals are mixed in that evoke a burning desire to dance.

The Librarian is an inclusive community builder in the electronic music scene. Bass Coast, for example, invites music fans from all walks of life into a purposefully curated, one-of-a-kind experience that's packed with immersive art installations and live music.
The acclaimed Canadian festival is one of their many crowning achievements. Over the years her prowess, both on stage and in the studio, has resulted in memorable performances at Coachella, Symbiosis Gathering, Bumbershoot, Lightning in a Bottle and Shambhala, as well as a Boiler Room gig on the Bass Coast.
By the sound of it, The Librarian's forthcoming EP seems like an indication of spending a lot of time in deep introspection and appreciation of the scene. "miss u EP is an ode to the rave, to the dance floor and to the wildly eccentric community of music lovers who have been separated in the last two years," she explained. "Composed in my basement studio at a strangely early hour, the EP is a hopeful tale destined to be reunited when we meet again surrounded by sound."
The Librarian's Miss U EP is due out on Friday March 25th. Until then, find Howe Sound and miss u here on your favorite streaming platform.
