The momentum behind Chris Stapleton continues as his most recent record starting over climbs to the top of the charts due to strong physical sales and streaming numbers. Released November 13, the album debuted this week at the top of the Billboard Country Albums chart with an impressive 102,733 album sales and streaming equivalents.
Starting Over sold 74,726 physical albums and downloads a week, and songs from the record were streamed a total of 31.5 million times. There were also over 28,000 individual song downloads a week. Not only was this good enough for number 1 in the country, but Starting Over also hit number 3 in all of music, narrowly supplanted by the new AC / DC album Power Up, which contained a total of 117,000 albums and equivalents. together with Future and Lil Uzi Vert in second place with 105,000.
Starting Over, Chris Stapleton gives his fourth # 1 album in the country, with all four of his solo releases now topping the charts. It also comes that Stapleton's 2015 breakout album Traveler continues to stay at the top of the charts. This week the album ranks 7th with 14,830 albums and equivalents sold. The songs on the album are streamed around 11.8 million times.
Another big player in the charts recently was Dolly Parton with her latest Christmas release, a Holly Dolly Christmas. Even though it was released on October 8th, sales are still brisk. The title sold another 22,252 copies this week, good for # 3 in the country. It debuted at # 1 when it was first released with more than 27,000 albums sold. Luke Combs hits # 2 in the country this week with his latest album What You See Is What You Get, selling 42,303 copies in albums and streaming equivalents.
Breaking the 100,000 sales mark is very rare in the streaming era, as is reaching physical sales near 75,000. Starting Over was produced by Dave Cobb and recorded at Studio "A" in Nashville. Additional recordings were made in Muscle Shoals Sound and in Compass Sound Studio.
