Well, that's pretty damn cool.
Singer, songwriter and troubadour Dustin Lee Martin is one of those guys who has been doing it for years, writing good songs, releasing albums when he can find enough time and money to get into the studio, entertain people as best he can and hope for those little or big moments connecting with an audience that are worth all the work and effort. One of those great moments happened for him on Sunday evening, July 25th.
Playing at the Valentine Bar on Lower Broadway in Nashville on one of those busy 10pm. until 2:00 pm After an hour, Dustin Lee Martin was playing the song "Broken Halos" by Chris Stapleton when someone other than Randy Travis happened to pass by with his wife Mary and others. They heard Dustin Lee sing and decided to stop by, and apparently Randy Travis loved what he was hearing so much that he and his family stayed here the rest of the night, listening to music, hanging out with fans, and having a good time.
In tribute to Travis, Dustin Lee Martin and his band played "Deeper Than The Holler", "If I Didn & # 39; t Have You" and then, at Randy's own request, "Three Wooden Crosses", even though they had never played the song together before as a band. Martin shared the moment with band members Brandon Buck, Patrick Gulley and Andrew Paul.
"I'm speechless right now," said Dustin Lee afterwards. “In the end, he stayed all night until we were finished, tapping his foot and enjoying himself. I said, 'Sir, I hope we did your songs justice' and he smiled really big and gave us a big thumbs up! "
Randy Travis has become quite famous for performing unannounced at concerts by Deserved Artists, including a couple of times at Cody Jinks showsbut that was a situation he walked by, just liked what he was hearing and decided to stay here.
"He and his family had just left Midtown, it was too crowded, so they went to Broadway," explains Dustin Lee Martin Saving Country Music. “It stopped around 11 and stayed all night! Very cool guy. He took photos with anyone who wanted one and waited until we were done so we could meet him and take photos. "
Randy Travis later posted a video of the night on his Tik-Tok account (see below). Yes, Randy Travis has grown into a Tik-Tok star lately with nearly 2 million followers.
Born in Blytheville, Arkansas and raised in Rives, Missouri, Dustin Lee Martin began writing songs at a young age. “It was pretty surreal to play for one of my heroes,” says Martin.
