After wandering into the worlds of Afrobeat, neoclassical composition, Latin American rhythms and ambient pop over the past 18 months, Swiss multidisciplinary composer Pablo Nouvelle is directing his music back to the dance floor. His first release of 2022, La Sensación Es Real is an introduction to the sound that will permeate much of his forthcoming work and prove a welcome sonic addition to any club-like setting.
"La Sensación Es Real" marks Pablo Nouvelle's return to his club roots after expanding his sonic horizons and shows that the song's journey is more important than the destination. Adorned with beautiful harmonies, fluttering synths, a steady beat and spoken vocals, this absolute delight for the senses is designed to make the listener feel with every fiber of their being.
"La Sensación Es Real is about appreciating the moment and being in the here and now," Pablo Nouvelle says. “Every person has their own way of reaching this state of absolute concentration, trance or flow. The more we are constantly faced with information overload and screens fighting for our attention, the more important it is to know how to deaden the noise, check in with the real world and "feel everything". The first draft was made in my home studio during the pandemic last fall, over a year ago. This summer I've been working on two films that take place in the mountains and explore the inescapable feeling that we are incredibly fragile and ephemeral in the face of the mountains. Through one of the projects I met Macarena, the irresistible voice of the song. The films inspired me to write the lyrics, which she then recorded and sent to me via voice memo from Argentina.”
Pablo Nouvelle is a sought-after remixer and producer, having worked with the likes of Jessie Reyez, Anne-Marie, Bruno Major and Josef Salvat while stepping up remix duty for Aurora, Gorgon City and Marina & the Diamonds. When not pursuing music, Pablo Nouvelle is an acclaimed animation filmmaker with three award-winning short films. His latest film, In A Nutshell, was longlisted for an Oscar.
