The mother of rapper Drakeo the Ruler, who died after being stabbed to death at the Once Upon a Time festival in LA in California on Saturday, has announced that she will be suing the death of her son.
Drakeo the Ruler – real name Darrell Wayne Caldwell – is said to have been stabbed in the neck during an altercation. He was hospitalized and pronounced dead the next day.
The mother of 28-year-old rapper Darrylene Corniel spoke to Rolling Stone about her son's death.
“He was hit in the neck. I saw him when I went to the hospital. They said it was murder so I couldn't hug him or kiss him or anything. I had to look at him through a window, ”Corniel said during the interview.
“I need this out here. I need people who know. And I want justice for my son. And I believe that justice is done, ”she added. "I will not rest until justice is done."
Before the interview, the specific details of Caldwell's death were unclear. However, Corniel said that, according to witnesses she spoke to, a large group of people immediately arrived and surrounded Caldwell and his brother.
"They said there were 40 to 60 people," Corniel told the publication. “It all happened so quickly,” she says. "You started trying to skip them."

“He tried to fight, but when he turned around he could see his brother pouring blood. He said, 'Did they stab you?' It was like there were so many. "
While the above is a report on what Corniel believes has happened, at the time of publication she was still awaiting her formal interview with investigators. However, Corniel told the publication that she believes the venue security did not do its job properly.
"We plan to sue," she said. “That happened backstage at an event. Someone has to be held accountable. "
