today Make LaB, Creator and creator of the boutique festival experience Lightning in a bottle, unveiled the line-up for the 2022 event's return to Buena Vista Lake in Southern California. For five days on Memorial Day Weekend, May 25-30, LIB will bring together a unique mix of torchbearers from a range of genres and origins to create its acclaimed creative tapestry. Each artist will play their own role in igniting the LIB community's long-awaited reconnection.
Since 2006, Do LaB has acted as a curatorial beacon for the festival movement on the west coast, inspiring a global movement within the larger festival movement. LIB remains a sought-after destination for artists around the world to showcase their unique craft in creative stage environments created to be immersed and amazed. The result is a deep connection between audience and performer that paves the way for musical highlights and cross-genre discoveries.
LIB's Lightning Stage remains a central artery through which live and electronic icons thrive. In 2022 the stage will feature performances by British indie rock phenomena Glass animals, Canadian-Haitian beatsmith Kaytranada, prodigal son of American bass music GRiZ, plus crossover executives SG Lewis, purity ring, and Chet faker. British-Nigerian rapper Little Simz and singer-songwriter Empress Of will be making their LIB debut while Monolink triumphantly returns to the stage with a new album and worldwide fame.
Thunder, traditionally known as the event's bass music enclave, will transform into a tree-lined theater that will showcase multiple genres under the open sky with its largest cast to date. It remains the perfect container for a melting pot of styles crowned by electronic composers and singers Big gamewho have favourited cinematic sounds from CloZee, and the Los Angeles bass icon Ekali. The excitement for fans of the low-end continues with the experimental soundscapes of G Jones B2B EPROM, LSDream, Mr. Carmack and OPIUO. In keeping with the event's mission to inspire cross-genre pollination, the American rapper and singer is GoldLink will take center stage alongside the Jamaican reggae singer and rapper coffee, and the New Orleans bounce legend Great Freedia.
