A glimmer of hope that 2022 might not be so bad after all is news that noughties icon Hilary Duff is considering a return to music.

Speaking to Cosmopolitan about her role in "How I Met Your Father," Duff was asked the question everyone who grew up listening to Hils' bangers wants to know — is she planning on releasing new songs in the not-too-distant future?

"I'm not working on music right now, but I've been talking to my husband (colleague artist Matthew Koma) about going into the studio and doing some muscle stretching," revealed Duff.

"I really want to, but I need time to figure out what I'm saying, what kind of record I'm making and who it's for. But yes, I will."

She continued, "Do you know how annoying it is to go to a concert and they're not playing hits? I want to give people what they want, but I also want it to be authentic to who I am now, and that's very complicated."

It could be that the singer-actress is fearful of releasing new tracks after she managed to ruffle millennial feathers in December 2020 when she broke the devastating news that the much-anticipated Lizzie McGuire reboot had been cancelled was.

After announcing that the series would be revived in 2019, Hils broke our collective hearts after revealing that the project would be canceled as Disney+'s plan with Lizzie didn't seem to "balance" with the way how she saw the character.

"I know there has been effort and talks everywhere to get a reboot working, but unfortunately and despite everyone's best efforts, it's not going to happen," she declared at the time, shattering our inner selves.
