If you know country music, you know the legacy of the Williams family like the back of your hand. Hank Williams Sr. was, of course, the first country music superstar, Hank Williams Jr. became a megastar himself, and if you do your homework, you'll know about Hank Jr.'s sons and daughters – Hank Williams III, Hilary Williams, Holly Williams and now Sam Williams.
Hank Williams III has put together a successful career combining the influences of the traditional country with punk and metal tendencies. He was signed to Curb Records for a controversial decade and released a number of well-recorded albums, including his Magnum opus Straight to Hell in 2006 before becoming a free agent. Holly Williams has also received great recognition as a songwriter and performer. She regularly appears on the Grand Ole Opry, released a prestigious album called The Highway in 2013, and has a long-awaited record by Dave Cobb that is still in preparation.
Hilary Williams released her official debut album, My Lucky Scars, in 2018, and Sam Williams has also recently emerged, combining classic and contemporary country, and also appearing on the Grand Ole Opry. Sam also has a sister Katie Williams. And then there's the interesting case of Hank Williams IV.
At the beginning of March, CMT started a new series called "Another Round", in which actors are to be captured in an intimate environment. In their first episode, the children of Hank Jr. were introduced to the group. Hilary, Holly and Sam all sat on stools with acoustic accompaniment and started singing their father's "Whiskey Bent and Hell Bound". Then Holly sang her prestigious song "Drinkin & # 39;", Hilary sang her song "Crazy", Sam sang "Can't fool your own blood", and then everyone joined in to interpret "I saw the light".
The first episode of "Another Round" was really well done and country fans can look forward to future episodes. In this compilation of Hank Jr.'s offspring, however, Hank Williams III was noticeably absent. Many of the comments on the video and social media asked why it wasn't included in the presentation. Although it appears that someone should at least have mentioned that there is another Hank son who is an actor who was not present in the group, we cannot assume that Hank Williams III was present, even when He was asked.
Hank3 has not been seen in public for almost six years, except for a short video appearance as part of an outlaw country heavy metal tribute in which he was involved April 2018. He released his last record in 2013 and played his last live performance the following year. In 2016 Hank3 explained that he was forced to move from his notorious Haunted Ranch property in East Nashville and that his dog Trooper had died, which was the reason for the delay in new music or tour dates. But that was the last big update we got from him. He said in both 2017 and 2018 that he would see us again very soon.
Saving Country Music turned to CMT and asked if Hank3 had been considered for attending the presentation. They made no public comments or explanations on the matter, but said they had a longstanding relationship with Holly Williams and had worked closely with Hilary and Sam on their new music releases over the past six months. This is how the idea for cooperation came about.
Saving Country Music also contacted the Hank Williams III manager, who said he had not been contacted directly by anyone at CMT or anyone else with an invitation, but left open the possibility that someone would have contacted Hank3 directly. Although the Hank3 manager couldn't offer any other update on Hank3's current situation or future plans, he said, "Shelton stays in like the rest of us in these crazy times."
Loyal fans of Hank Williams III may wonder why he wasn't included or considered in the CMT presentation. But there is a very good chance that he would have decided not to participate, even if asked. And even without Hank3, it's still a cool opportunity to see three young members of the Williams family together.
There are many theories about why Hank3 has not been seen in public for a long time, but it is probably important to let it go through the process it is going through and to reappear when it is ready. As his fans have shown in their reaction to the CMT show, they will be eagerly awaiting him when he reappears.
