"Put on your headphones and collect all your assets", Stehreo orders in the introduction to Gramatik's new album "Water 4 The Soul II".
Gramatik's passion for blockchain technology is nothing new, but his latest efforts show the multi-genre producer has only grown more firmly and enamored with the promises of the metaverse, digital collectibles and more.
So far only available on blockchain-based streaming platform Audius, the nine-track opus is crammed full of nods to nascent cryptocurrency technology with titles like “Wagmi Express” and “Hodlers in Paris.” Musically, Gramatik continues to be inspired at the intersection of funk and electronics, with snappy plucked basses, jazzy piano riffs and lively brass fanfares.
Another particular highlight of the album is "Synthtopia Prime", the Genesis track produced in the groundbreaking Audioglyphs DAW (Digital Audio Workstation).
The DAW is a collaboration between Gramatik, Luxas and Audioglyphs and has the potential to "enable fully generative music in lossless audio quality". As Gramatik also notes, the DAW offers producers the flexibility to use it on the web via popular browsers such as Firefox and Chrome.
Sonically, "Synthtopia Prime" closes the album on an ominous note, although it's an impressive testament to the technology's ability to create high-quality modular sounds and deep, voluminous textures.
Get ready to delve deep down the rabbit hole of the metaverse with Gramatik's Water 4 The Soul II, available now from Audius. The album will be released on streaming platforms on January 28th. FOLLOW GRAMATIC:
