While Florida’s government has moved to banning vaccination records, a promoter has come up with a clever way to give concertgoers an extra incentive to get vaccinated.

The pop-punk band Teenage Bottlerocket will perform at the VFW in St. Petersburg at the end of June. The event organizer wants to encourage attendees to get vaccinated and is offering a $ 981 discount on tickets for those who do.

This means that vaccinated customers who can provide evidence can buy a ticket worth $ 18, while unvaccinated customers pay $ 999.

Teenage Bottlerocket was sold on the idea after promoter Paul Williams equated that setup with companies like Krispy Kreme, which offered free products on vaccination records, or stores like Target, which offered vaccinated customers coupons.

It's an idea that will work in the short term, but as CNN notes, Governor Ron DeSantis' ordinance banning vaccine passports goes into effect July 1, effectively opening up the potential that companies have every time they try to get vaccination status their patrons.

Williams says tickets made out of all tickets purchased for $ 999 will go straight to Teenage Bottlerocket.
