Canadian Cameroonian artist, songwriter, actress, burlesque performer and poet Erockfor her highly anticipated debut album, Phoenix, has been teasing since May by releasing a single each month, and now she's finally revealing the project in all of its glory. Phoenix, which was worked on for seven years, recounts how she found her way back to healing and recovery after escaping from an abusive and adulterous marriage. The ten-part work was written and composed by Erock himself, the entire production is from an LA-based electronic musician Blaire Michael.

Phoenix begins with his first two lead singles, "I Thought You Love Me" and "I Don't Want You Back," which set the stage for the rest of the album. The former is a jazz / pop number that revisits the moment her husband broke his marriage vows, while the latter sees her regain her dignity and commit to getting out of her toxic and traumatic marriage. For the next seven songs on the album, the singer uses the seven main chakras as allegories to express her healing and recovery journey, which began when she was a shy and traumatized woman fleeing her hometown in Montreal to South Korea for her Venom escape wedding. This journey has now come to an end when Erockfor is back in Montreal and lives her truest and most authentic life, as she describes with the last song on the album "Rocky". Between these two realities, Erockfor takes us on an important journey of relearning and self-discovery, from the sexy "sacral", which revolves around relearning lust and sensuality, to the slowly burning "heart" that expresses love, empathy and compassion, to "Crown", where Erockfor opens up her spirituality.

In the production department, Blaire Michael pulled the proverbial big guns with his cinematic and multi-layered production, which takes up elements from different genres. The result is a cohesive, soul-touching work that enables Erockfor to delve deeper into the dynamics of heartbreak and infidelity, as well as the healing and rebirth that have come in the years since.
