Electric forest is back next year! Officially.
The annual event in Michigan was one of the festivals that couldn't return this year after its 2020 event was already cut due to the novel pandemic at the time. It was a particularly devastating blow, having lost so many other festivals this year, then failed to see it when others like Ubbi Dubbi, EDC, Austin City Limits, Outside Lands and more returned. But all of that will change when it comes back June 23-26.
The official line-up was unveiled yesterday and featured loads of incredible acts. However, many who were in the original 2019 lineup did not have their booking recovered from EF's return.
Bass nectar Getting peeled off the headliners is an obvious result that nobody should be surprised by. FlumeUnfortunately he is another victim of album mode as his name is now also missing. Diplo, Petit Biscuit, Lindsey Stirling, Gryffin, Tchami, Boys Noize, and more are also missing. As well Noisia and G Jones. One notable artist who won't be seen next year is 12th planet, which was last in the focus of an allegation of sexual assault in 2018. Obviously, it is not clear whether his absence is related to his name or for the same reasons as those mentioned above.
Now for what we get instead …
Include new names Porter Robinson, Slander, Griz, Sylvan Esso, Disclosure, Liquid Stranger, Dom Dolla, John Summit, Shiba San, Sidepiece, Wax Motif, VNSSA, and more. Mija and GG Magree Both were individually on the lineup in 2019, but now their project So tuff, so cute is on the second line. Death pact, Chiwa, Moore Kismet, Uniiqu3, Wreckno, and more also show some expanded female, LGBTQ, POC and "KI" bookings.
