Breakbeat Kaos, one of the industry's most popular record labels for drum & bass music, has relaunched under the stewardship of DJ Fresh.
In the early 2010s, Fresh gained worldwide acclaim for hits like "Gold Dust" and then became the first artist in the world – along with Rita Ora – to have a drum and bass single top the UK charts, according to UKF. He did the same with the timeless 2011 dubstep song "Louder."
As his career boomed, releases on Breakbeat Kaos began to wane. By this time, however, the label had already released a string of early career singles from future household names such as NERO and Chase & Status. They also released Hold Your Colour, the debut album by legendary drum and bass group Pendulum.
Nonetheless, he was determined to restart Breakbeat Kaos and finally made the goal a reality. Lighting the match with "Dancing In The Dark" alongside Buunshin, Fresh is publicizing his commitment to preserving the original qualities of breakbeat Kaos that made it so great.
With an ominous wall of sawtooth bass sweeping through the track, Fresh and Buunshin deliver the tight and punchy drum rhythms that are all too familiar to longtime fans. The track additionally includes an ethereal vocal loop that lingers in the background, adding to an overall haunting atmosphere.
