A year ago today, the world said goodbye to one of the leading thinkers in dubstep. Cookie Monsta's label, Circus Records, shocked the entire dance music community with the tragic news that the 31-year-old producer suddenly passed away.

Even now, a year later, the scene continues to mourn the absence of the renowned bass music producer and pays tribute to the legacy he has left with his music.

Cookie Monsta was almost on the first floor of Circus Records, one of the most influential imprints that would dramatically shape the path of modern dubstep. The label's co-founder, Doctor P, didn't have to wait long to realize that it was one of the best business decisions he could make at Cookie. His debut album on the Ginger Pubes / Blurgh! since then alone has reached tens of millions of ears and is still highly regarded by long-time fans of the genre.

The memory of Cookie Monsta is omnipresent among his closest collaborators. FuntCase, who has shared the stage with the producer of "Ruff" too many times to count, recently recalled that his experience in Lost Lands this year was incomplete without Cookie Monsta by his side.

Offstage, Cookie Monsta has often been described as kind-hearted and, in the words of Disciple Records, "a great friend to everyone". He leaves behind his son Olly, who is also affectionately known as "Mini Monsta".

Check out some of the homages to Cookie Monsta below.
