Hardstyle artist Devin Wild, who lives in the Netherlands, has released a tireless, virtuoso EP called ACID on Scantraxx Records.
The 9-track album is a sonic adventure from start to finish, filled with piercing synth melodies, kicks with pitches, and deep-space reverbs and vocals. Each track is produced and developed for festivals and clubs to pump an insurmountable amount of energy into the audience.
Every melody on ACID has an interlude that allows a brief respite from the flood of stimulating sounds. The title track takes the listener on a journey into the unknown with distant pianos and eerie melodies.
"It's Okay" slows things down a bit at the beginning so listeners can reappear and ground themselves before the track kicks off. The calming nature of "It's Okay" is peppered with shimmering surfaces, a ruthless kick-bass combo, and sharp transition effects that brighten the senses.
"Hypernova" takes off and crushes expectations like a garbage truck. With a sample soundset similar to "It's Okay", the standout song features rap vocals and a swirling low end that doesn't let up.
ACID seems to never end with its constant flood of ingenuity, Wild concludes with "Eternity", a seemingly blissful track at the beginning before opening up and rummaging through with heavy, atonal kicks.
