Brooklyn raised MC / producer Deuce Ellis and his long-time employee Camo monk first appeared on our radar with their experimental jazz instrumental project. Now Ellis is back on the field with a new single "MEM2", working on co-production assignments with Camo Monk. The track is based on a grainy and somewhat dusty soundscape made up of dark keys and a distorted bass-like synthesizer. It's quite unusual, and the sparse drums also leave plenty of room for Ellis & # 39; s carefree and relaxed flow.
The visuals were staged by Deuce Ellis himself with the help of Diggidy-Diggz. Taking into account the theme and style of the song itself, the graphics we see are colorful and grainy at the same time. The use of various performance recordings and quick-cut scenes sure captures Ellis' calm demeanor, but the watercolor / retro VHS effect in particular makes it special. "MEM2" comes from Deuce Ellis & # 39; latest LP Midnight Ouroboros, a self-produced 10-track project with underground stalwarts like Estee Nack, Hus Kingpin, G4Jag, Napoleon Da legend, and more. He also worked behind the boards with Camo Monk and CeeGee.
