With his new remix of Dolly Parton's "Jolene", Destructo is officially the newest EDM superstar to pull on a pair of cowboy boots and try his hand at a little country twang. In this case only, the boots are likely to be pink, paired with rhinestones and a V-neck for safety.
Destructo's version, released through RCA and Sony Music, is one of the only official "Jolene" remixes to ever grace the public's ears, and it's their favorite, according to Parton in a press release. "That makes me dance!" She said.
Notably, this isn't the Queen of Country’s first foray into electronic music. In 2019 her collaboration with Galantis and Mr. Probz, "Faith" topped the charts with its current Tropical House bounce.
Destructo took advantage of Parton's iconic vocals in his rework, adding a four-on-the-floor beat and clubby bass to give it a mesmerizing house sound. The song's original string guitar hook also sounds in the foreground, supported by bubbly synths.
"& # 39; Jolene & # 39; has been part of my musical DNA since day one … I always had the feeling that her lyrics and melody could be the basis for a real dance floor hit," added Destructo. "[Dolly] is a national treasure and to have the world hearing my version of it with her behind it is a blessing."
