Hear this! Deathretro emerges from the wild with a really exciting debut single and an album that has been in existence for 16 years.
Originally founded in Cumbria around 2005, one could argue that Deathretro is the country's best kept music secret. The band plays growling electro rock with cryptic lyrics and a healthy dose of post-punk spirit. The songs have been locked in a digital safe for years, but will finally see the light of day in August in the form of a long overdue debut album. Meanwhile, Edge Of Nothing serves as a pretty brilliant introduction to the band. Driven by tense rhythms, dark synths and extremely dangerous undercurrents. Oh and lots of riffs too!
“Well, damn child, I know that money is tight right now / you don't know what situation I'm in,” singer Kieran Harris sings before adding, “but this could be the beginning of something!” It is this Mixture of fear and excitement that makes Edge Of Nothing an ideal anti-anthem for summer 2021. When you're ready to go over the edge and into the great unknown, listen to the track. As if all of that wasn't enough, there's another vibrant, dance-floor-ready remix by Hexagons to enjoy. Risen and ready to rock, Deathretro prove that you just can't keep a good band in check.
