For months now, Chris Lake and a handful of his electronic music contemporaries have been teasing his long-awaited collaboration with Grimes, "A Drug From God". Finally, the acclaimed house record producer has revealed the release date of the track, which will appear on the former's Black Book Records.
Thanks to Lake's signature groundbreaking production and a captivating vocal hook from Grimes, "A Drug From God" received immense praise and support well before its release, and performed at major festivals from DJ Snake, The Chainsmokers, Tchami, and more. We only heard bits and pieces, but it's safe to say that "A Drug From God" will be one of the biggest house records of 2021.
The collaboration will fall on Friday, November 12th. Check out the Lake reveal below.
Grimes is credited as an NPC in this version. In an Instagram post, she called the alias of a new "girl group" she founded. However, she claims that she is still "making their faces," implying that this musical noun de plume could possibly include AI avatars.
Although we just got the release date, "A Drug From God" has been around since at least May. Check out the video below for a taste of what Lake and Grimes have come up with.
