It was a long and storied tradition in country music. If you really wanted to establish yourself as someone who knows the roots and modes of music, you've released a gospel album. Even if it didn't sell like your original, even if you didn't consider yourself particularly religious, these are the songs that are where many of the traditions of country music come from. It was a rite of passage.

For Brent Cobb, the motivation to record a gospel album isn't just symbolism. Although he had long wanted to record a gospel album, it was a near-death experience in July 2020 when the vehicle he was driving with his young son got a T-bone at an intersection in the country. After that, Cobb found a new way of life.

He recalls, “You just start putting together whatever is kind of intentional… I always had in the back of my mind to make a gospel album. That moment of clarity, almost being killed, made me think that I should just do the gospel album now. "

Produced by cousin Dave Cobb in historic Nashville studio "A", Let's Turn to Page … will be released on January 28, 2022 and will contain eight well-known hymns and an original song by Brent Cobb and his wife. It will be released on its own Ol ’Buddy Records. And if the first song, "We Shall Rise," is any clue, Brent Cobb will bring his uniquely funky Georgia roots to the endeavor.

"I've always wanted to make a gospel album from the south because that's where I'm from, but it also seemed like a rite of passage for country singers to make a gospel album," says Brent. “Everything comes from gospel music. This is where country music came from. I'm just trying to carry this torch. "

As a Grammy-nominated performer, Brent Cobb released his last original studio album in 2020, entitled Keep ‘Em On They Toes. He also recently published a children's book called Little Stuff.

And now let's turn to the side … is available to pre-order.
