One of the most respected producers in electronic music has released its most contrasting album to date.
As a cross-genre mastermind, Boys Noize tackles the intersectionality of his music directly with his fifth studio album +/- (pronounced "Polarity"). Described as a work that tugs at the polar tensions between the musical styles he produces, Boys Noize (real name Alex Ridha) carefully crafted an almost an hour long LP with fifteen tracks. Each edit feuds with your senses, trying to connect the similarities of each contradicting album.
The fluidity of the project can be heard between the different tracks; from the funky 808 beats of "Affection" with ABRA to the pulsating bass and hype synths of "XYXY". The title track "Polarity" with Ghost Culture draws on the somber sounds for which Boys Noize is known, while the ballad "Act 9" with Vinson acts as a kind of modern lullaby.
On the album, Ridha says that he has always been inspired by trying to integrate opposing forces.
+/- extends the goal that Boys Noize wanted to achieve with the album. A collage of contrasting sounds that coexist in a room that is unique to him. In terms of sound, each cut retains its incomparable Boys Noize stamp.
Boys Noize will tour his project from September 26, 2021 at the CRSSD Fest in San Diego through the USA and culminate in Miami on November 5, 2021. All tour dates and tickets can be found here.
+/- is now available through Boys Noize Records. You can listen to the full length album below and find it on streaming platforms here.
