Jonathon "Boogie" Long is a blues rock powerhouse. Blues Rock Review caught up with Long to find out what got him to music, acting, working with Samantha Fish, and his next album.

“A wild mix of blues rock, southern funk, soul, we do it all,” Long describes his sound. Born in Baton Rouge, he became attracted to music at a young age.

"My grandfather used to play in church and I've always been in love with music," says Long. “I've seen my family play a lot. My father bought me my first guitar on his birthday when I was about 8 years old and I started taking lessons shortly afterwards. "

After attending his first blues jam, Jonathon fell in love with the genre.

"The rawness, the feeling, you can't fake it," Long says of the blues. "You either have a bit of it or you don't."

Long's power trio is about bringing energy to the stage.

"If we look like we're having fun, everyone else is having fun."

As a young bluesman, Long was cast in a movie about the genre.

“It's a family friendly blues movie, a low budget movie called We are kings and I was there with some very good friends. "

An opportunity to get back to the screen is a welcome jonathon.

“I would definitely do it again and I love to write. I'm really good at writing to fit a particular narrative. "

In 2018, Long teamed up with Samantha Fish to release his self-titled album on Samantha's label Wild Heart Records.

“We have the same manager. We have been playing together for a long time and on the same account and have great respect for one another, we work well together. She started running a record label and I needed some support, ”says Long.

Long plans to release a new album this summer and is happy to be back on stage.

“Stay true to the music and we love you. I can't wait to play, ”added Long.
