When Aphex Twin appeared on stage with his Digeredoo debut in 1992, he was enigmatic. I interviewed him three times during this time. Once was in his apartment, which was full of homemade keyboards. He was always fantastically vicious and nothing like a grumpy digital professor. Since then he has made endless brilliant groundbreaking releases.

I have some of these interviews on tape somewhere and I will put them online as soon as they are finally found! Meanwhile, here is a scan of one of the interviews I did with him in 1992 for Volume Magazine – a brilliant magazine based on a groundbreaking and open-minded compilation CD. (would like to dedicate this piece to the late Rob Deacon, who co-ran the magazine with Robin Gibson).
